Bass Inc was a hip hop crew formed in Tottenham, North London in the Late 80’s. They released their own music independently Whilst simultaneously hosting events and promoting black British consciousness and in doing so influenced a generation. Led by the charismatic and controversial Black Radical MK2. They were pioneers of U.K hip hop and promoted self independence by forming their own label and focusing on self distribution at a time when their peers saw major label co-sign as their only outlet. Black Radical partnered with a major label (mango) for a brief period but regained his independence and continued to be a galvanizing force in U.K hip hop. This was a movement and a place in time witnessed by those who were there but never received the spotlight it deserved. Until now.
